MP4 can’t play with VLC solution
VLC Player is a popular free media player for both Windows, Mac, iOS or Android users. As VLC Player users, we know it support all popular video and audio formats including MP4. However, we still will meet some problems for playing MP4 with VLC like no sound, can’t play, etc, as below
“I have an MP4 VIdeo which I am able to play on another machine. I am also able to play using Windows Media player and GOM player on my laptop but VLC couldn't play it.”
“Im trying to play a mp4 file, click on it to play get the sound but no video, (screen is black), however if I try the same file in media player classic it plays fine. I want to use VLC so i could take screenshots easier” (from forum.videohelp.com)
These problems may be caused by following three reasons
1: MP4 file is corrupt or broken
Solution: You can search a software to repair corrupt MP4 file. Here I recommend a article in eHow about how to repair a corrupt MP4 file which can do it.
2: VLC “video setting” is wrong
Solution: Go to VLC Tools > Preferences interface and make a check. Make sure the “Enable Video”, “Windows decorations” is checked, then save these setting and restart your VLC player.
3: MP4 video codec problem. We know MP4 is a container media format, which can contain many different data elements in the file. So maybe your MP4 file contains a video codec that isn't supported by VLC player. So you can’t play MP4 on VLC player.
For solving this, you need to choose a software to convert MP4 to VLC more compatible format. Here I recommend a Video Converter software. Using it, you can easily convert all codec MP4 format to VLC compatible MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, VOB, WebM, F4V, MVI, MXF, AVCHD, M4V, ASF or audio format like MP4, 3GA, AU, M4B, AIFF, FLAC, etc.
